SRINAGAR (VEN): In a relentless effort to curb the menace of drug peddling, Jammu and Kashmir Police attached a residential property of a notorious drug peddler under NDPS Act in Kakapora area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Thursday.
Jammu and Kashmir Police attached a residential house valuing approximately Rs 20 lacs of a notorious drug peddler namely Javaid Ahmad Ganaie, son of Mohd Shaban Ganie of Loolipora Kakapora.
Pertinently, the said drug peddler is presently lodged in central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu under PIT NDPS Act.
“The action has been taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & is linked with case FIR no 15/2023 U/S 8/15 of NDPS Act of Police Station Kakapora and FIR No. 220/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act of Police Station Pulwama,” police said in a statement.
“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Pulwama Police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner,” the statement said.
“This action reaffirms the commitment of Pulwama Police to combat the drug menace,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, locals have hailed the initiative of Pulwama Police with regard to the attachment of immoveable property which has been raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Pulwama District. (VEN)
