Drug peddler arrested in Srinagar, contraband substance recovered: Police

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a drug peddler in Srinagar on Saturday and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

“During a routine naka checking at Malkha Chowk, Nowhatta, a suspicious person was intercepted by a team of Police Station Nowhatta. During search, approximately 3.370 kilograms of charas powder-like substance and 20 grams of charas was recovered from his possession,” police said in a statement.

“He has been arrested and has been identified as Sajad Sheikh, son of Baktawar Sheikh, resident of Sheikh Colony, Hawal Srinagar was intercepted by a team of Police Station Nowhatta,” the statement said.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 55/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowhatta and further investigation has been initiated. — (KIMS)
