JAMMU (VEN): In a major strike against drug peddlers, Jammu and Kashmir Police under the command of Paramvir Singh, Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, booked 16 drug peddlers in Reasi district of Jammu division and lodged them in district Jail Reasi.
“At least 10 suspected drug peddlers were picked from Reasi town and 06 from Katra town after teams of Reasi Police conducted raids on different hotspots for drug peddling in Reasi district,” police said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The suspected notorious drug peddlers namely Surinder Singh, Yash Pal Singh, Vikram Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Shakeel Wani, Jeevan Kumar, Ghulam Ali, Rouf Mir, Ganesh Kumar, Tabrez Hussain, Abhijeet singh, Sanjay Kumar, Bablu Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Manik Sharma, and Sahil Rajput who were earlier booked in various drug peddling cases and were continuously supplying drugs to the youth of Reasi and Katra town were arrested and booked under preventive sections of BNS by the orders of Executive Magistrates of Reasi and Katra town. Subsequently, they were lodged in district Jail Reasi,” the statement said.
Sharing details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi Mr. Paramvir Singh said, “On one hand Reasi Police is taking punitive actions against drug peddlers and they are being booked in NDPS Act, on the other hand Preventive action is being taken against suspected drug peddlers which is required to save our future generations.”
“In coming days more such actions will be taken by Police and Reasi Police will leave no stone unturned to save the youth of district Reasi,” he added. (VEN)
